Surfing with Frank

Let local surfing legend Frank Russell and his crew of experienced surfers guide you to some of the North Island's finest surfing locations. Originally from California, Frank arrived in New Zealand 30 years ago and never left - he now makes his home in Wainui Beach, Gisborne, running surf tours and learn to surf courses.

With a team of 5 guides, Russell and the guys have a world of experience when it comes to surf coaching and guiding. Frank's surf tours cover a wide area - from Gisborne to the surf hotspot of Raglan, and down the Taranaki coast, meaning there are at least 35 different surf breaks to choose from.

Learn to Surf courses are run in Gisborne, with its relaxed waves and pleasant climate. Surfboards and wetsuits are provided and all ages/fitness levels are catered for. A private lesson costs $65; group lessons $45.
