Woodhill Park Retreat is the only academic home-stay in New Zealand. It was developed by Dr. Jens and Jenny Hansen to nurture, support, and enable scholars, researchers, writers, academics and students from all disciplines to progress their work.

Set on six and a half acres in Waimauku, the retreat has eight bedrooms three bathrooms, two kitchens, a teaching and learning facility and a number of break-out spaces. It is only half an hour by car from down-town Auckland and is situated close to Muriwai Beach, Parakai Hot Springs and Woodhill Forest.

Close by are a number of well known vineyards and a range of coffee shops and restaurants. Some visitors to the retreat choose to work there by day, some stay for a few days and occassionally there are people who stay for several weeks or even months.

Visitors can be self-catering or can have meals prepared for them. Special dietary needs are catered for by Jenny and academic guidance is provided by Jens.

Features: As well as ample car parking for small conferences, Woodhill Park has beautiful gardens, a petenque court, a barbeque area and a number of quiet outdoor seats. There is a well appointed flexible teaching facility which can seat twenty people and there are a number of break-out areas available. The facilities are available to approved groups for a very reasonable tarriff and we cater for groups by providing quality food at minimum prices. Client groups have included a District Health Board, a number of government departments and a wide range of tertiary institutions.
Getting There: To get to the Woodhill Park Research Retreat, take the North-western motorway and travel past Westgate towards Helensville on State Highway 16. Keep going beyond Kumeu and Huapaito Waimauku. Still on State Highway 16 and heading towards Helensville is Woodhill Park Road. Woodhill Park Road is 1.9 Kilometres beyond the Waimauku School which is opposite the BP station. Woodhill Park Road is on the left heading towards Helensville and is at the top of the second hill past Waimauku. The Woodhill Park Road sign, however, is on the right hand side of State Highway 16. The Retreat is the second house on the right down Woodhill Park Road and there is a sign at the gate.
