The entrance to the Abel Tasman National Park, Marahau is a quaint beach town with abundant camping grounds as well as luxury retreats. Take a day trip or extended tramp into the park or explore the golden beaches and crystal azure waters of Tasman Bay.

The best route to Marahau is the scenic drive through Kaiteriteri. The road follows a picturesque coastline around secluded bays and estuaries, with stunning native bush hugging the ranges. Marahau has a safe swimming beach and a great cafe with wonderful surroundings and views at the start of the Abel Tasman National Park. Here you can book water taxis, hire kayaks or set off on the coastal track.

The Arts Unique Gallery is difficult to miss - it's adorned on the outside with large bold carvings of Maori legends. Inside the gallery you can purchase handmade musical instruments, wooden puppets, furniture made from native timber, handmade greenstone jewellery and bone carvings.

The attractive town offers great swimming beaches, kayaking tours with safety equipment and qualified guides, sailing tours and great tramping tracks.
