Located in a stunning coastal setting, Paraparaumu is the largest town on the Kapiti Coast. Surrounded by hills to the east and Kapiti Island to the west, Paraparaumu boasts an excellent mild climate a few degrees warmer than Wellington & great facilities for both residents and visitors.

Like other towns in the area, Paraparaumu has a partner settlement at the coast called Paraparaumu Beach, which lies directly opposite Kapiti Island. Paraparaumu Beach is an ideal base to explore Kapiti Island. The famous island landmark is home to some of the most endangered native birds, yet it is one of the few relatively accessible island nature reserves in New Zealand.

Paraparaumu is famous for its fabulous natural beach promenade, some great cafes and a small-plane airport located smack in the middle of the town.
