Lower Hutt is a city to the northeast of Wellington, New Zealand. With its lovely gardens, coastline and native bush areas, Lower Hutt enjoys a reputation as a gateway to the great outdoors.

The Hutt River is one of the most significant features of the city, which occupies the lower regions of its flood plain. The Hutt River meanders its way through the centre of Lower Hutt, providing opportunities for fishing, canoeing and jetboating.

Lower Hutt includes the cluster of small settlements that extend down the eastern coast of Wellington Harbour. These include the two large townships of Wainuiomata and Eastbourne which is on the coast.
