Cook’s Cove Walkway & Tolaga Bay Wharf

Follow the walking track to Cook’s Cove and Tolaga Bay Wharf, through bushland and rolling hills of farmland. The 5km walk takes you to the point where Captain Cook stopped to stock up on fresh supplies and repair his ship, The Endeavour. There are plenty of spots to stop for a picnic along the track, so don't forget to pack one. Walkers can pass through the 'Hole in the Wall'.

The Tolga Bay Wharf is the longest pier in New Zealand at 660m in length, and was built between 1926 and 1929, to allow ships to unload in all tides. It's a pleasant half hour stroll along the pier, with good fishing off the sides, offering lovely views back at the coastline.

The return trip walk will take at least two and half hours, passing some great coastal views along it's length. The walk is closed for the lambing season 1 Aug - 30 Sept.
