Overview

Few countries have a more clichéd tourist image than Ireland. Known for shamrocks and shillelaghs, leprechauns and U2 - Ireland has much to offer its visitors. By all means have a Guinness or 3 while you're there, but make sure you look beyond the obviously endearing clichés and experience the real Ireland.

Dublin, the capital city of the Republic of Ireland, is the most common entry point for international visitors. Key points of interest include Dublin Castle, the Irish Museum of Modern Art and Dublin Zoo. Kilkenny, one of Ireland's favourite spots, is only 1hr 40mins from Dublin.

Further afield, the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher in County Clare, the wind-lashed wilderness of Donegal and iconic Blarney Castle in County Cork are some of Ireland's most popular sights. The best way to see Ireland is by car, especially as many sights are not served by public transport.
