U Live host Rose Matafeo talks about her favourite places to travel (for ice-cream) and packing a bag, MacGyver-style.
Where is your favourite place to holiday in New Zealand?
Nelson, because Abel Tasman National Park is so nearby and they have pretty delicious fresh fruit ice-cream in Motueka. Or maybe Mount Maunganui - they have good ice creams too. I think my favourite places in New Zealand very much relies on the quality of ice-cream in that place.
And your favourite place to holiday overseas?
Melbourne - because it's just so freakin' awesome and I usually go while the comedy festival is on there which is always heaps of fun.
Your most memorable holiday so far?
A school trip around America I took when I was 16 with my best friends at the time. We went to Chicago, Boston, New York, Washington D.C. and LA. Probably the best time I've ever had in my life. What do you always pack when you travel?
Cable ties, baby wipes and padlocks. I pack like MacGyver.
Do you like to plan everything before you go on holiday, or do you wing it a little?
I like to have a rough plan, although it depends on where I'm going. I'm going to Disneyland next year and I'm already planning every single second I have there.
If you could go on holiday with any famous person, who would it be and why?
Michael Palin, because he's awesome and he won't mind roughing it. Or Oprah. Actually, can I officially change my answer to Oprah?
Rose Matafeo is a host on 'U Live' - 4pm every day on TVNZ's U channel.
